Redmobile just recently announced its 2G sim capable to non 3G handsets.
But call feature aren't ready at first.
I have recieve an alert text message informing redmobile users for its 2G capability.
Anyway, I am satisfied with the 3G having the handset availability.Although, there are some places got poor signals.
More power to redmobile!

My Daily Handy Tool - Sony Ericsson P1i

A bit old in the rank models that came out from 2007 but still can pump the juice. It's a pretty handy tool. Aside from its advance smartphone features, I can install lots of UIQ3 application which supports my basic needs for wifi, 3G-internet and other variety of use.
It's the economical smartphone in the market, while Windows Mobile 6.1 based smartphones are out in the top ranks, I can still survive with this handy gadget using the UIQ3 operating platform which Symbian-OS stop its support. Well, still lots of developers supports for UIQ3 who loves using it up to this time.

Here's my compiled P1i review from other forums.
Motorola RAZR V6 maxx
My first 3G/HSDPA mobile phone and the worse I've ever owned.
I may say it's a good phone which has a bunch of features and specially has HSDPA(3.5G) and video call capability. Basic phone features is on board, but I utilized most of its 3G and HSDPA.

User interface is fast, quite good battery life and pre-loaded with a memory card microSD of 2gb storage capacity.
I just made a few tweaks and modification on themes and volume sound output. I want a real loud bass frequency on my ear piece. Moddded with a Motosound and flashed my windows vista look on my interface in a dark blue ambiance.
But unfortunately it has flaw on its design. This is a full USB I/O interfaced device which is commonly used to computers now a days.
This model Mototrola RAZR V6maxx has defect which may occur in several cause/issues about USB Death. The term USB Death arise when several owners of this phone model reported and posted in some forums/blogs, happens to be the death of their V6maxx is caused by USB power.
There have been some issues that Motorola has discontinued its model into production.
Also claimed that there are no specific proof and cause of this USB Death to V6maxx models.
USB-Death - your phone suddenly shutdown for no reason and cannot power-on. Even putting a new and full-charged battery wont power-up the unit. No boot-loader appears when it is initiated. Cannot charge the battery, but will light up the green LED indicator when you plugged it in a computer using a USB data-cable, but cannot access the phone memory.
Here's my crappy phone after the 1yr. warranty expire. After few days, it was gone down and never put into power again.

My HotSpot Finder

Whenever I go to places like malls, places to eat, coffee shop, waiting for someone at the park benches inside the mall, I used to browse my mobile phone for messages and emails.
The first thing I do is to sniff the air wave using my P1i for a wifi signal. Of course I'm sniffing for the free net connection (hehehe...)

Found One....."linksys"..
Now what..?
Check for unsecured network (no WEP/WPA)...good..!
...Connect... and then...
Time to check mails and my forum logs. If things pops on my mind which is quite interesting or maybe just a simple topic to share, I post to my blogger site (xcon-technix).
I wanted to share this while I do some test using this HotSpot Finder (this is not a free ware, you need to buy it). Got to browse few more... Bye!

RED mobile 3G

Last tuesday mar.24, i recieved my free Red Mobile sim card. It took more than a month after I register from loadmomma.com to have this free sim card with 10peso load.
Currently, my interest got high to do a test about its 3G network. After doing and setting up my P1i GPRS/MMS/3G settings, i tried to surf the net using my mobile phone using opera mobile 9.5 and opera mini 4.2 browsers.
The speed is really fast as compare to ordinary GPRS/EDGE browsing connectivity. But almost quite the same if you have a 3G signal from globe and smart.
For smart and globe, not all areas can achieve good 3g signals, but you will fall out to GPRS/EDGE if you are on dual mode. HSDPA 3.5G is different scenario, it work best in stationary via fixed UMTS mode.
For Red Mobile, if you dont have a 3g phone, you wont be able to use the sim. It only accepts pure 3g signal/network. Meaning, if you are in a location where 3g signal is not available, then your phone is dead or out of reach.
Smart claimed that this is their subsidy network, which boastly says that it has a nationwide coverage. I doubt as of the moment, signals from Smart is far different from Red. Maybe because Smart can be in dual network mode while Red is simply 3G network.
Browsing rates: Php7.50/15mins.
Red to Red: 50cents/text and 50cents/mins. Voice and video calls
Red to other network: 1peso/text and 6.50pesos/mins. voice calls

Free calls to US and Canada using Magicjack
Magicjack - USB device that adopts RJ11 port to connect a phone handset to your computer. With your PC having internet broadband connection and this Magicjack, you may have unlimitted calls to the US and Canada with no charges applied. Only $20 annual subscription.
This was a gift from my Uncle from the US, and so far I haven't tried it yet, but we made an initial test calls in Hawaii and Minesota. The voice on both part was clear and can hear even a pin drop.
A big thanks to Tito Romy...

Free browsing on Smart
Smart free browsing technique has been filtered out this past few months starting january 2009. Different versions of operamini web browsers came out, modded by talented java programmers to modify, tweak and bypass internet connection by using IP based proxies.
Im currently using OM 3.11
m.smart.com.ph.kproxy@server.operamini.com
The URL proxy was converted to IP address.
I acan also browse using the built-in web browser from my P1i via web proxy address m.smart.com.ph
More info's from esato forums.
Google is your friend.

Notes on Ubuntu Studio Trial
Ubuntu Studio 8.04(Hardy Heron)
As to compare with Ubuntu standard, Ubuntu Studio includes multimedia apps for audio/video enthusiast and advance user for editing. The themes are lightly dim which I prefer a bit to lessen the visual contrast.
From my previous test of few linux (Fedora 9, Centos 5.2, Ubuntu8.04), only Ubuntu/Studio version of linux that I could successfully run Compiz Fusion. I have few problems installing compiz fusion in Fedora9, which only built-in compiz can smoothly run, but in fedora9, after installing and running compiz fusion, my GUI turns upside down or even sometimes suddenly turns my screen into pure white, i have to press ctrl-alt-backspace to restart and then login.
Typical apps I often use is:
-Firefox
-Thunderbird
-Pidgin
-Skype
-Terminal Server Client
-VNC or Remote Desktop Viewer
-Tranmission Torrent
-Gimp
-Open Office
-Kompozer
-Scribus
-Quanta Plus
-Gparted
-Tux Paint (for my son)
-Cheese
-Dia
-Qcad
-Wireshark
-Firestarter Firewall
-Cairo Dock
-Limewire
-Audacious
-Audacity
-Vlan
-Gnome Mplayer
To be continued...
